Shopping in Berlin:
The Best Places to Shop

Berlin is a fantastic city for shopping, offering everything from luxury designer boutiques and famous department stores to affordable fashion, vintage shops, unique concept stores and outlet shopping.

Whether you're looking for international brands, great bargains, stylish local boutiques or one-of-a-kind finds, Berlin has plenty to offer.

I'm Amir, a local tour guide who has been living in Berlin since 2006. Over the years, I've explored the city's shopping districts and discovered places worth visiting, whether you're looking for a special shopping experience or simply want to find great deals.

In this guide, I've gathered my personal recommendations to help you make the most of your shopping time in Berlin.

My tip: Berlin is a large city, so it's worth planning your shopping around the areas and stores that interest you most.

Kurfürstendamm (Ku'damm): Berlin's Famous Shopping Boulevard

Kurfürstendamm, affectionately known as Ku'damm, is one of Berlin's most famous shopping streets and the heart of the city's elegant shopping district.

Stretching through the heart of City West, this impressive boulevard is lined with international fashion brands, luxury designer boutiques, shoe stores, jewellery shops and stylish cafés.

You'll find everything from well-known high-street brands to prestigious names such as Chanel, Gucci, Cartier and Louis Vuitton. The nearby Tauentzienstraße is also home to the famous KaDeWe department store, one of Europe's best-known luxury department stores.

Don't miss the charming side streets around Ku'damm, including Fasanenstraße, Bleibtreustraße and Knesebeckstraße, where you'll discover smaller boutiques, independent shops and lovely cafés.

My tip: Even if shopping isn't your main goal, Ku'damm is worth a visit for its elegant atmosphere, beautiful architecture and classic West Berlin charm.

Wilmersdorfer Straße: Everyday Shopping in Berlin

If you're looking for a more relaxed and budget-friendly shopping experience, Wilmersdorfer Straße in Charlottenburg is a great alternative to the luxury boutiques of Kurfürstendamm.

As Berlin's first pedestrian shopping street, it offers a wide range of fashion stores, international retail chains, shoe shops, cosmetics, electronics and everyday essentials.

The street is also home to Wilma, a modern shopping centre with a variety of shops, cafés and services, making it a convenient stop for a shopping break.

Unlike the upscale atmosphere of Ku'damm, Wilmersdorfer Straße offers a more down-to-earth shopping experience, popular with local residents.

My tip: This is a good place to look for affordable fashion and everyday shopping without the luxury price tags.

KaDeWe: Berlin's Legendary Luxury Department Store

No shopping trip to Berlin is complete without a visit to KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens), one of Europe's most famous and prestigious department stores.

Opened in 1907, KaDeWe has become a Berlin landmark, offering an impressive selection of international luxury brands, designer fashion, beauty products, accessories, homeware and exclusive lifestyle collections.

But one of the biggest highlights is the legendary sixth floor, known as "Die Sechste". Here you'll discover an extraordinary gourmet food hall featuring delicacies from around the world, fine wines, champagne, specialty food counters, restaurants and bars.

Even if luxury shopping isn't your thing, the food floor alone makes KaDeWe worth a visit. It's a wonderful place to explore, enjoy something delicious or simply experience one of Berlin's most iconic shopping destinations.

Address: Tauentzienstraße 21–24, 10789 Berlin.

My tip: Don't miss the sixth floor. It's one of the most memorable food experiences in Berlin.

Mall of Berlin: Shopping in the Heart of the City

Located at Leipziger Platz, just a short walk from Potsdamer Platz, Mall of Berlin is one of the city's largest and most popular shopping centres.

Spread across four floors, the mall offers a wide selection of international fashion brands, shoe stores, beauty shops, accessories, electronics and lifestyle retailers.

Whether you're looking for well-known brands, affordable fashion or simply a convenient place to shop, you'll find plenty of options under one roof.

One of the highlights is the large food court on the second floor, offering a variety of dining options when you need a break from shopping.

The mall is also conveniently located near several major public transport connections, making it easy to reach from different parts of Berlin.

Address: Leipziger Platz 12, 10117 Berlin.

My tip: If you live outside the European Union, check the mall's Tax Free Shopping information to see whether you are eligible for a VAT refund.

Designer Outlet Berlin: Designer Brands at Discounted Prices

Looking for great deals on international fashion brands? Designer Outlet Berlin is a popular shopping destination located just outside the city, in Wustermark.

Designed as an open-air shopping village, the outlet features more than 100 fashion, sportswear, footwear and lifestyle brands, including well-known international designers and premium labels.

You'll find discounts throughout the year, with many products offered at 30% to 70% below their recommended retail prices.

The village also has cafés, restaurants and plenty of open spaces, making it a pleasant destination for a half-day shopping trip.

Address: Alter Spandauer Weg 1, 14641 Wustermark.

My tip: Allow at least half a day for your visit. The outlet is outside Berlin, so plan your transportation in advance.

COLOURS: Second-Hand Fashion & Vintage Finds in Kreuzberg

If you love vintage fashion, second-hand shopping and discovering unique pieces, COLOURS in Kreuzberg is definitely worth a visit.

Located on Bergmannstraße, this popular second-hand store offers a wide selection of pre-loved clothing, from everyday fashion and denim to vintage finds and accessories.

One of its distinctive features is its clothing-by-weight concept, allowing you to browse through the racks and pay according to the weight of selected items. Some special pieces are priced individually.

Shopping here is part of the fun: you never know what hidden treasures you might discover.

Address: Bergmannstraße 102, 10961 Berlin.

My tip: Take your time, explore the different sections and keep an open mind. You might find something truly unique!

Who Killed Bambi?: Unique Upcycled Fashion in Berlin

Looking for something different from the usual fashion chains? Who Killed Bambi? is a truly unique Berlin fashion label with roots in the city's underground and punk scene dating back to the 1990s.

Located in the beautiful historic Hackesche Höfe courtyards, this creative boutique offers distinctive fashion with a strong focus on sustainability and individuality.

The brand specializes in upcycled clothing, transforming pre-loved garments and forgotten materials into unique fashion pieces. Working with local artists and craftspeople, they give old fabrics and clothing a completely new life.

You'll find original designs, unusual combinations, vintage-inspired pieces and accessories that reflect Berlin's creative and alternative spirit.

This isn't the place to look for mainstream fashion or big international brands. It's a shop for people who appreciate originality, creativity and clothes with a story behind them.

Address: Hackesche Höfe, Courtyard 4, Rosenthaler Straße 40/41, 10178 Berlin.

My tip: Take some time to explore the Hackesche Höfe courtyards as well. The architecture, independent boutiques and cafés make this area one of Berlin's most enjoyable shopping spots.
